What is Exercise Physiology?

When should I see an Exercise Physiologist?

You can see an Exercise Physiologist for various reasons whether you are completely healthy, have chronic injuries or want to train for a specific goal. You do not need a doctor’s referral to see an Exercise Physiologist. If you are unsure about whether to see an Exercise Physiologist, give us a call to speak with a practitioner.

Can I claim private health insurance rebates?

Yes, on the spot rebates are available, just check your individual private health insurance. The amount covered will depend on your level of cover.

Do I need a doctors referral?

No, you do not need a doctor’s referral to see an Exercise Physiologist. However, if you are under workers compensation, CTP, or Veterans Affair, a referral will be required.

What should I bring?

Please wear comfortable clothing and closed in shoes. Where relevant, bring your health fund card, referral or scans if you have any.

What should I wear?

Please wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement. Do not wear a skirt or dress.

What can I expect from my first appointment?

The first Exercise Physiology appointment will involve the practitioner gaining a thorough understanding of your experience and concerns. We will then complete a physical examination to confirm a path forward. Depending on your reason to visit, your Exercise Physiologist will provide you with an exercise regime or rehabilitation program tailored to your needs.

How long is a session?

An initial consultation is usually 45 minutes, however you can request for an extended consultation if you feel you require more time.

Is there parking?

Yes, free street parking is available and abundant. 

Do you have extended business hours?

Yes, we aim to accommodate to busy schedules by offering morning and night appointments as well as Saturday morning appointments.

Do you do home visits?

Yes, we aim to make Exercise Physiology as accessible as possible. If you are unable to attend the clinic, give us a call and we will arrange a time to visit you.

Bulk billing, referrals & Rebates

Is Exercise Physiology bulk billed?

Bulk-billing is available under the Chronic Condition Management (CDM/EPC) plan and the Group Referral for Type 2 Diabetes.

What do I need to do to access bulk billed Exercise Physiology?
    • To access the rebate, you will need a referral from your GP with the appropriate plan attached (CDM or T2D).
      We do not charge a gap on these referrals, so there is no additional fee.
    • Keep in mind that these referrals are not applicable to everyone. Your GP will assess your eligibility for these programs.
    • The CDM (EPC) plan is for those with a chronic injury or condition. Where determined by your GP, you may receive up to five (5) treatment sessions per calendar year.
    • The T2D referral is for those with a confirmed diagnosis wanting to attend group classes only. You may receive up to eight (8) group sessions per calendar year.
Do you provide Exercise Physiology for WorkCover and Compulsory Third Party (CTP)?

Our Exercise Physiologists are qualified to provide WorkCover and CTP and are registered through the governing body SIRA.
Before your Exercise Physiologist appointment, you will need approval from your insurance company. We can help you with this process, so if you are unsure, just give us a call.

Do you provide Exercise Physiology for NDIS?

Yes, our Exercise Physiologists can treat under the NDIS scheme. We are not a registered provider, but this is not a legal requirement to work within the scheme, as we have been for years. Give us a call to determine the next steps.
