Providing Young Athletic Development Services in Parramatta
Watch your child thrive through Strength and Conditioning for Kids
Why do kids need Athletic Development?
While it may seem counterintuitive to introduce more activity to an already packed week of sport, the ability to effectively navigate the demands of multiple training sessions and games during the adolescent years is critical for the longevity of their sporting career.
Our athletic development program focuses on foundational elements that are crucial for safe and effective participation in sport as they age to their peak performance years. Emphasising progressive training, movement quality and basic form introduction, we aim to foster longevity in their chosen sport.
By enhancing skills such as running, jumping, landing, changing direction, hand-eye coordination and decision making, we build injury resilience, boost confidence, and provide a competitive advantage to sport participation.
What we will do:
- ✓ Complete a thorough playing and injury history
- ✓ Identify key strengths and weaknesses
- ✓ Complete a screening tool to determine movement patterns
- ✓ Customise a program to compliment your schedule
Common Questions
How often should you see your athletic development coach?
Young athletes require consistent and regular coaching. We will discuss your goals for long term development and recommend a tailored plan. Dependent on your goals, we can provide guidance to adolescents for years as they mature through their athletic progression.
For the most effective results, weekly one-on-one coaching will be essential in the critical phases of learning. Depending on their age and experience in strength and conditioning, it is also common to complete monthly reviews or reviews around key competition phases.
How old can my child be to start strength and conditioning?
The foundational athletic development program accommodates children as young as 11, recognising this age as a crucial stage in athletic development. Our program is designed to establish safe and effective introductory strength to mitigate the stresses on their growing bodies.
As they transition into early adolescence, a trend toward sport specialisation often emerges. The years invested in foundational training prove invaluable during this phase. Our focus shifts toward sport-specific training, promoting key athletic markers for maximum potential, longevity and overall robustness.
